Love Songs

We will be reading from Leviticus 19:9-18 for our first lesson, and Matthew 22:34-46 for our sermon lesson on this, the 24th Sunday after Pentecost. The setting is another controversy the Pharisees are creating in a long line of conflicts aimed at tripping up Jesus in some detail, or theological teaching. As you can imagine - it doesn't work - again. Jesus knows the law that the Pharisees think they adhere to so perfectly. When questioned about which of the laws is the greatest - Jesus talks about love - loving God - and loving our neighbors. The sermon is titled "Love Songs" and the service will conclude with some Love Songs from our hymnal that will be familiar.

I will be sharing with the children during our Children's Moments portion of worship, a video about Operation Christmas Child, and a blessing of food donations recently brought in. These are lessons that can never be learned too early.

Emily Burke, one of Cable Hollow's college students will be sharing a song titled "Only Hope". Emily is a junior at Edinboro University.

A chicken and biscuit dinner sponsored by the Haiti Mission team of this past summer will be provided as a "Thank You" to the congregation for the fund-raising support they all provided. The dinner will take place immediately following Sunday School. I hope you can join us!

Finally - continue to pray for our country, our governmental officials, and those who are sincerely attempting to lead our country during these "trying times".

With great heart,
Pastor Jon
