Preparing for Worship
I'm pleased to share with you that Nathan will be bringing the message this Sunday, as Nettie & I will be away.
The first Lesson comes from Exodus 33:12-23. Nathan's message stems from the sermon text of Matthew 22:15-22 where the Pharisees try to trap Jesus in his words. They have carefully crafted their question that requires a "yes" or "no" answer. Jesus doesn't oblige them with their plan. Their question about paying taxes - has deeper roots - like loyalty - and a life that is guided and directed by God. Jesus knew the malice within their hearts - and he knows what motivates us, as well. Whenever someone tries to tight a tight knot around Jesus - he always slips the knot! Hence the last verse of the sermon text - "When they heard this, they were amazed. So they left him and went away." -Matthew 22:22
Dana & Ginnie will be leading worship.
Music will be provided this week by Barb & Karen.
Julia will be encouraging our little ones during the Children's Moments.
Also - in this week's bulletin there will be a couple of inserts:
1 - info regarding the upcoming Operation Christmas Child sponsored by Samaritan's Purse
2 - info regarding All Saint's Sunday on November 2.
I hope your week has been inspiring, and your senses have been heightened by the glorious fall splendor.
I look forward to seeing you in a week!
With great heart,
Pastor Jon
p.s. - please keep the Clifford family in your prayers as David's mother, Leona, went home to be with Jesus this past Wednesday. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Monday October 27 at 7pm at Faith Community Church in Roslyn, Pa.
